Facilities management leaders from fellow Big Ten schools gathered at The Ohio State University in June for the 2024 Higher Education Facilities Management Alliance (HEFMA) Conference. HEFMA members network throughout the year to share information and resources about innovative, effective and efficient use of campus facilities and space.
This year's conference was hosted by Planning, Architecture and Real Estate (PARE) and featured tours of the Arts District, Health Sciences District as well as Carmenton. Round table discussions engaged participants in topics including post-COVID office space. Framework space grants, a matching grant program to support space updates that promote student success, were also highlighted during the event.
“The conference was a wonderful opportunity to connect with Big Ten colleagues in facilities management,” said Paula Melchert, senior campus planner for PARE and HEFMA board secretary. “Not only were we able to learn from shared experiences in the facilities planning industry, we were also able to highlight the many campus areas that have come to life through long-term campus facilities planning.”
