Ohio State is developing a plan to sustain older structures and determine which are no longer useful. Currently, facility master plans for each of the university's 15 college are underway to help inform building-by-building plans to prioritize the work.
"We're taking a look at, what do we really need to invest in in the next five years, five to 10 years, and what can wait 10 beyond?" said Amanda Hoffsis, vice president of Ohio State's Planning, Architecture and Real Estate department. "Then it has to come down to what we can finance and how to prioritize."
Plans include examining what will be renovated, what will be kept and what will be replaced.
