The development of West Campus, west of Kenny Road and south of Lane Avenue, has been a long time coming, university board members said on Thursday at a meeting of the Master Planning and Facilities Committee of the Board of Trustees.

In the News: Ohio State Trustees Hear Plans for West Campus Innovation District

Ohio State University’s board of trustees members heard plans for the proposed west campus “innovation district” on Thursday, as well as ideas for an improved Olentangy River trail and centralized recreation fields.

The master planning and facilities committee reviewed plans for two buildings that would anchor this district.

One is the Interdisciplinary Research Facility that would include research labs, meeting spaces and cafes. The other is an Energy Advancement and Innovation Center for a technology commercialization partnership with energy management company Engie.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center continues to expand its ambulatory care network with a new, large outpatient care center planned for Dublin.

Pending approval by university trustees this week, Ohio State will continue the process to acquire 34 acres of land owned by the city of Dublin near State Route 161, State Route 33 and Shier Rings Road. Dublin City Council will hear the first reading on this proposed land purchase during its March 11 meeting.

In the News: Interdisciplinary research facility to anchor Ohio State’s west campus innovation district

A proposed innovation district on Ohio State’s west campus is gaining momentum through two proposed buildings that will support research and technology commercialization.

Next week, Ohio State’s Board of Trustees Master Planning and Facilities Committee is expected to review a pair of projects proposed for the university’s west campus – located west of Kenny Road and south of Lane Avenue. Framework 2.0, the university’s long-term planning vision, identified this area for a future innovation district.

In the News: 15+HIGH the Centerpiece of Ohio State’s Latest Transformation

The most noteworthy redevelopment work that Ohio State has going are the 15+HIGH and Arts District projects along North High Street. Major changes have been taking place on the east side of High Street since 2008. That has been part of the plan since the beginning, said Amanda Hoffsis, president of Campus Partners, Ohio State’s real estate offshoot.

In the News: Ohio State updates new development along North High Street

Members of The Ohio State University Board of Trustees Master Planning and Facilities Committee reviewed new renderings Thursday that detail the design of the transformative Arts District and 15+HIGH projects.

“This is indeed going to be the new front door to the university,” said Alex Fischer, chair of the Master Planning and Facilities Committee.
